Paul Offit, quoted in sceptical terms about the nature of the leak , is the same Paul Offit who, along with Dr Stanley Plotkin and prof Hilary Larson, maintained in the BMJ that there were safety studies for the vaccines on the UK child schedules. When Prof Chris Exley pointed out that there were no such studies, their silence said it all. For those who find that rather confusing : THERE ARE NO VALID SAFETY STUDIES FOR ANY OF THE VACCINES ON THE UK CHILDHOOD SCHEDULE. Of course, you are not supposed to know that. The BMJ did not print the rapid responses exchange in it’s print issue, and it is never mentioned elsewhere. Even in Private Eye, the fearless publication which boasts that it will publish what others fear to print. One amusing aspect of this otherwise sorry tale is that when Larson, Plotkin and Offit’s response first appeared, it ended “ No competing interests”. A number of people protested, and in subsequent days their competing interests grew to 12 lines.
